About the wonderful lesson of sheehy’s English class

May 25, 2007

The funnest thing that we did this year was when we read of Mice and Men and Old Man and the sea, the reason why because you come into class and you say “man I really want to read a book” but majority of you won’t say that. Plus I really enjoy the blogs, there so much stuff that you can type and post. I really did’nt like the vocab, because you don’t really get homework from Mr. Sheehy and its a bummer that he gives you it. When you read a book in class, just read or follow along, because he will ask you questions over the book. Like Isaid really liked reading in a classroom. You make some interresting friends and you have one of the coolest teacher’s in Central. I’m not being a suck up or anything but he really helped me and I wouldn’t change anything about the way you teach. I like how you use the projector, It really gives you a great visual of what you suppose to do.

What am I doing/ 16-19

May 17, 2007

Well what can I say i just have skills about picking important passages. What I do for picking out important passages out of the book is that you try to figure the trial and you pick out a quote from a person that is talking about about Tom Robinson or Atticus, and you write down that passage and you explain why you think thats an a important passage. For example, “Mr. Cunningham basically is a good man, he just has his blind side”. I said that this is important because everybody has its blind side. When Im in a bad mood I really don’t want to talk to another person. I just don’t like to take my anger on someone else and cause problems with them. You know what i mean right. Everybody has that problem, I know my best friend has the same exact problem. You feel me?

Connections through Chapters 12-15

May 15, 2007

Through out these chapters i had some good connections. Some reminded me of of some movies, i dont why but I just did. I did a double entry journal about all the connections i made through out the book, i just cant remember them all. Oh yeah whaen Jem and Scout switch places it reminded me of the movie the Parent Trap. When the two girls switch so one can visit her mom and the other can go visit her dad. “He spends his time doing things that would’nt get done if nobody did em”. This connects with my parents; well you im pretty lazy at the house, and my parents always tell to get the dishes done or get my room clean. I end up saying “I’ll get it done I promise”. Weeks later my mom goes up to me and says “Why did’nt you do the dishes, I told you all last week, now I’ll have to do it now”. Wow even me typing sounds like my mom. Wick’ed. I made a connection about a Niel Diamond song called “Brother Love”, in the text it said “Brethren and Sisters”. Immeditaly I thought of the song. If you’ve seen Lost and Found, with David Spade you know what I’m talking about. He does this scene, dressed up as Niel Diamond and he is trying to get a promotion from his boss. Its just so hilarious watching him do this scene. The text said “You brought us hickory nuts”, I have a connection that every Christmas my grandpa gives us a bag of wal-nuts. I don’t eat them, but my parents likes them, and there gone in like 20 minuetes or less.

Thoughts on blogging

May 4, 2007

On our blogs we did all sorts of things, like we put flickr acounts in, so we can post all kinds of cool pictures. I just recently figured out that we can post the fickr web page on our blog page. It’s cool because you you dont have to go to the long way to the page. We’ve been doing blogs about all sorts of books we read like old man and the sea, of mice and men and to kill a mocking bird. I think we do blogs about the book so we know whats going on in the book. It really helps me, it keeps me on track what im suppose to do. Blogging really helps by giving som biography’s about someone or something. For example I did a season update about Joe Mauer, who’s one of the best clutch hitters in the MLB, thats why he won the batting title. You all know who he is, so anyways the biography is really neat to try out and it’s something to do when you are bord. Another cool way to this is you write your thoughts about what you think of something inpaticular. Punk Drunk Love gives great examples of that, when you get the time you should visit her site, its really cool. I’m still learning about the neat blog tools, so i do not know what else I can put on. I’m excited to see what else I can do. Just now Archer18 put in a some standings for baseball. You click on his hilited team and it takes you to the Cleveland Indians home page, its very cool. You see theres a whole bunch of interesting things to do on the blogs. You just have to put in some time for. Well Im Hunter48 and you stay classy Central High School.

Man Joe can you get any better. Its really amazing how he batted over .300 and won the American League batting champ. Joe is great for his great clutch hitting and his great personality. He helped the twins win the divisions for the last two years. I’m waiting for the twins to win a ring. In 2007 season I am excited to see what the twins can pull off this season, they havent played Red Sox yet, but they have played the Indians; Bobby’s team. Twins lost the series by 2 games. Bobby was jumping for joy and i was very upset. Well i hope Joe wins the American MVP, and the world series.

Prejudice

April 26, 2007

Long time ago in middle school, in my class we had a girl who was mostly likely sexest. I talked to my buddies and talked about her, they said the samething i did. Most of them didn’t agree what i was telling them. I tried talking to her and she just wouldn’t talk to me at all. Most of the guys tried to get a peep out of her but she wouldn’t talk at all. The next day we saw her in her group table and saw her talking to some girls. We were all saying to ourselves “why doesn’t she just talked to guys”.It looked like she was having a good time with them to. i thought she was shy or something, but i keep thinkin that she was sexes, i don’t know. Every time we tried tallking to her she just gets frustrated and frustrated, we can see her get reder. Maybe she doesn’t like me our my pals. After we graduated from the 8th grade I’ve never heard from her since. This is the closest I’ve to prejudice, sorry it isnt much.

Jems Journal

April 12, 2007

Wow!! A skit about the radley’s this should be alot of fun. The gang and i decided to do a skit about the radleys average life. I had a blast playing Boo Radley, dogs are my favorite and i had fun immitating one; but I ask myself what if the radleys finally came outside and saw us doing the skit, I think he would go crazy on us. That would be the last day to have fun if he caught us.

Cool white stuff! I found what the the white stuff was called, snow they call it. I heard my over my dad that this our first snow storm over 26 years. Later on that day, we went outside and built a snowman. It was funny because we borrowed some materials from Miss. Spodie. It was also funny that I sole her hat and a trimmer. She was yelling from across the street so my dad looked at me in disapointment. But he went over and staighten things out. I chuckled, then I continued to build the snowman. As we got done building a snowman we stopped and thinked about who it looks like, my sister said that it looks like Mr. Avery. It was funny because It really did look like him.

Fire!! In 3 o’ clock in the morning my dad woke us up. I was worried, then he went over and woke up my sister. He took us out in the cold, I just had slim clothes on, so I was very cold. In just a few minutes it started to get warm, while it was warm I looked up and saw a bright orange redish stuff coming out of Miss Maudie’s house. Then I realized it was fire, and fire is very hot and dangerous. I was wondering if Miss Maudie is okay. Then I saw her then I calmed myself. I just can’t believe how brave my dad is, I also can’t believe that he went into a flaming house. Someday I will be brave just like him.

Potential Symbols

April 2, 2007

My symbols were the tire roll, Sammi put down it was a symbol of fate. I didn’t really talk to her why she put that down. What I put for that tire roll, it was gutsy and and bravery. The other one was the skit that the gang did. Cedric put down, it was their creatness. Then Sammi pu down there curiousity. I think she means that the gang is wondering what the Radely’s are doing with there life. So….they put on a skit that shows a visual what the Radlely’s. The last symbol I put is Miss Caroline; Christine had a good one, she put Miss Caroline smbolizes newthings/change(she’s new in town).

To Kill a Mocking Bird/Scout

March 27, 2007

I think Scouts weakness is that she is too afraid of everything. She’s just like my mother; she’s to scared to try something new and always negative about everything. The reason that she did that tire rolls because she wanted to impress her friends by saying that she is cool. When she landed in the Radelly’s yard she was afraid, she’s lucky that Boo wasn’t out of the house. If that were me, I would be worried about the dog then the others. The dog can bite you really hard. I’d rather get yelled at then get bit by a dog. You feel me! But other than that she is to big woos. The strength for Scout is that she is very honest in away. Plus she is very open to about herself. When she doesn’t want to do something, she lets the rest of the gang know; the gang makes fun of her for it. But the gang doesn’t realize that she is very sensitive about all this stuff that she’s been through. She’s always forced to do a “dare” or somewhat to make her look cool. She always likes to talk to people, what I think if that she is strong at heart. What I’m trying to say that she has a strong heart. Thats her strongest part of the book. If you have a strong heart like her you must have a good personality to come with it. In the book she talks to a guy that I hadn’t heard of in the book. Her dad kind of reminds of my dad; every time I read passed the name Atticus I just laugh and think about my dad.

Mr. Sheehy’s/Letter

February 2, 2007

The letter that you wrote made sense, because everything you’ve said pretty much relates to me. I usually fake read all the time, because gets so boring and I just don’t feel like reading. When I have a class last it gets slow pace and I get very bord.
